What can I expect when training at AKS?

What is Ki? Ki is the word we use to define the smallest particles in the universe. Essentially everything is made up of these infinitely small particles. Quantum Physics says the same thing using different terminology.

Awareness is the most important personal attribute we can develop. It matters not how strong or fast I am if I do not realize I am in danger. This danger could come from driving (probably the most dangerous activity any of us indulge in), from physical attack, from shady business dealing or any of a number of other human activities. By learning Ki extension, Ki meditation and Ki breathing principles as well as using Ki in our Aikido training we develop awareness to a very high degree.

Calmness in all of our activities is one important benefit that occurs from training with us. No doctor will ever tell you that you are too calm or that you need more stress in your life to become healthy. We teach unique ways to test the level of calmness within us at any particular moment.

Ukemi is the art of falling. If we slip and fall the ground/floor is usually very unforgiving. Because we practice falling on a regular basis we learn to protect ourselves both on and off the mat should we slip or slide unexpectedly.

Due to the study of our art you will become stronger and more aware of what is going on around you, as well as becoming a kinder and more helpful individual. Kindness based on strength (strength of character, not just physical abilities) enables us to make a positive contribution to our family, friends and community.

The Arizona Ki Society is the only internationally recognized school in the greater Phoenix area that is authorized and certified to teach this incredibly positive way of life.
