AKS is the only internationally accredited school of Ki Aikido Mind and Body Coordination in the Greater Phoenix Area. We are affiliated with Ki no Kenkyukai (Ki Society), founded by Koichi Tohei Sensei, a former student of the founder of Aikido, Ueshiba Sensei.
We practice ShinShin Toitsu Aikido (Aikido with Mind and Body Coordination) at our dojo.
We strive to help beginners learn the basics of ki extension and aikido techniques, proceed at their own pace, and eventually become student instructors themselves. Our testing standards require any student 3rd-kyu or above (blue belt) teach classes prior to testing, as one of our main purposes is to spread the teachings of Ki Aikido.
Some of the things you can expect to learn at our dojo:
Gain the ability to act with calm action, not only for the sudden, unusual need of self defense, but as a guide for dealing with the stresses of daily life.
More than a martial art, Ki Aikido classes cover the mastering of Aikido techniques and life with Ki Development. Ki Aikido applies to every day life off the mat, not just in the rare event one is attacked.
Students learn to control their thoughts and movements, which leads directly to controlling any situation you may find yourself in.
Having provided a place of learning in the valley for the past 25 years, we have many advanced rank (black belts - or yudansha) students that teach classes, assist newcomers, serve on the board of directors, and volunteer in various dojo activities.
